Belfast Agreement Consent

All this is defined in Article 18 of the Protocol. However, it must be read in conjunction with a unilateral declaration by the British Government on the application of the provision relating to the democratic approval of the Protocol. It contains two important additional phases, both set out in good time by UK law, as well as other obligations. We do not agree with Powell`s respect. The law on these issues is not questionable. Well understood, the principle of approval contained in the Good Friday Agreement requires that the majority of the population of Northern Ireland decide whether Northern Ireland rejoins Ireland or remains with the United Kingdom. British law provides that the will of the majority will be expressed in a future referendum. This is the principle of adherence to sovereignty. A simple majority is sufficient.
