Yinnar Community Garden News – Dec. 2019

Throughout October and November, the Yinnar Community Garden has been busy with a series of Mosaic Workshops led by Lisa Anderson. Lisa showed our enthusiastic participants how to cut tiles, piece the mosaic in both pique assiette (broken china) and traditional tesserae (tiles), and do grouting. Participants worked on the mosaic splash back in the Garden’s outdoor kitchen, which is almost finished, attracting great admiration from everyone who sees it. It features roosters and hens in a pumpkin patch, bringing the garden theme into the outdoor kitchen.
Our end-of-year breakup will be a shared lunch from 12 noon on Saturday 14 December. Please bring a plate to share – we will supply breads, cheese and dips along with salad and berries from the Garden. Visitors welcome.
Please also save the dates for:
* Our AGM on Saturday 28 March 2020. We will be having a Wild Apple Party – bring along your favourite wild apples from the roadsides for tasting, or apple-themed baked goods. Garden memberships will also be due on this date.
* A Sourdough Workshop on Saturday 1 February 2020 led by Garden member LaBerta Forys.
We welcome local residents to taste produce which is in good supply, however please be aware that picking rights are reserved for members only (this means picking more than one of anything). Memberships are not expensive at $10 per person per year, and we rely on this income to maintain the Garden. For more information please email yinnarcg@gmail.com
