Boolarra Football Club – Dec. 2019

With Christmas approaching fast the club is beginning to wind down for the holidays, before that though we recently held our AGM. Simon Buglisi will be president once again, with newcomer to the committee but no stranger to the Club, Vince Corbett elected Vice President. Daniel Wilson has also stepped up onto the executive as Junior Vice president to fill the role of long time member and league Delegate Peter Rennie. Darren Napier and Faye Taylor will again be Treasurers. Ben Kimpton has again taken on the role of Secretary. Its good to see stability within the entire committee but great to welcome some new fresh faces to the committee.

The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank Peter Rennie on his outstanding long service as league delegate. He has served us well and no doubt had to stand up and fight for us once or twice over the journey. Well done Crabs!

Preseason training began in November with the boys training on Wednesday nights. The first night saw 23 players take to the track, which was outstanding for this time of year. Coach Tony Giardina and the recruiting department have been hard at work trying to entice new players to the Club for next season, numerous phone calls and meetings have taken place since the season finished. So far that has netted the Club four new players and two returning players, which has the footy department pleased for this time of year but not entirely satisfied. The work will continue to attract new players to the Club to build on the progress of last season.

Unfortunately at the beginning of the 2019 season we had to pull our Thirds out of the competition due to not having enough numbers. It is with great excitement that we can announce we have appointed co- coaches for the Thirds in 2020. Senior players Nick O’Connor and Jesse Giardina have taken on the big task of getting a team back on the park and with a full Club effort we are confident we can do it. The Club will leave no stone unturned in a bid to get junior football back to Boolarra but we need everyone’s help in spreading the word and recruitment. There will be a big focus on enjoyment and mateship.

We are always looking for more volunteers and helpers at the Club, we are a small community club and rely on locals to fill roles. Please do not hesitate to come forward if you think you can fill a role at the Club, no matter how small. President Simon Buglisi is very eager to get more people into roles at the Club to ease the burden on long serving volunteers that have taken on too much.

The Club would like to thank everyone that helped out this year in any capacity. We rely on volunteers to work hard to provide a place where people can play football and netball, as well as a place to socialise. It takes a lot of these great people to do this and we are lucky that we have so many.

You can keep up to date with all Club news via our Facebook page: Boolarra Football Netball Club.

The Boolarra Football Netball Club would like to thank their valued sponsors for Season 2019 and ask that you get behind and support these businesses as they support our community Club.

The club wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

We are also always on the hunt for new sponsors. Darren Napier once again is leading the Sponsorship drive. If you would like more information on packages don’t hesitate to contact Naps.
