We are get
ting used to wet working bees as we have been rained on these last couple of months. Keith put up a nesting box and managed to do some track slashing before we adjourned for lunch. It needs some dry weather so we can thoroughly deal with track maintenance at the Mill Site and install more nest boxes. Energy Australia provided us with 700 trees to plant for National Tree Day. The day was fine and we were able to get quite a bit done. There were
many middle sized plants and shrubs and these will be good habitat. Daisy bushes and Ti-Tree will provide plenty of spring flowers. Yinnar Primary School had a big planting day too assisted by WGCMA and the Landcare Network. Many of our farmers are also involved in big tree planting projects to develop wildlife corridors and shelter belts. All of the projects increase biodiversity and sustain our environment. Landcare have a good library on flora and fauna and associated topics: books can be borrowed at our monthly meeting, 7.30pm on the second Wednesday of the month at the Multi Purpose Building.
