Bush Dancing, Magic show and Dinner

Community events were thick on the ground on a recent weekend in Boolarra.  Latrobe City Council (LCC) Bushfire Events funding provided Bush Dancing for students at Boolarra Primary School and a community Bush Dance at the Hall with great music by the Briagalong Bush Band.

The next day, there was an entertaining show for around 60 local children in Railway Park with balloon art, bubbles, clowns, bikes and other activities.  The entertainers were extremely complimentary about the behaviour of our lovely children – take a bow kids!

As if all that wasn’t enough for one weekend, many of us fronted up again on the Saturday night for a funny and puzzling time with Nigel the Magician, again at our Memorial Hall which had morphed from a Country Bush Dance setting into formal dining.   Great work by the Hall decorators and cleaners!

Nigel entertained us with jokes and various tricks and the involvement of several community members, the starring role ably filled by Keith Robertson.  Nigel couldn’t have chosen a better participant – Keith was in fine form.  There were rope, card and memory tricks, as well as the inevitable disappearing/reappearing $20 note and watch tricks.

The delicious meal we enjoyed was partially prepared and served from our great new Hall kitchen – another terrific asset to our

community.

We were also entertained throughout the night by Lighthouse – another wonderfully talented musical group comprising members of the McGrath and Den Toom families.

Who says nothing ever happens in Boolarra!!
