A big thank you to all markers and the greenkeepers for their tireless work.

Thanks also to our valued sponsors for the season:  Italian & Australian Sporting & Social Club, Bendigo Bank, Baker & Gordon, Latrobe Valley Funeral Services and The Boolarra Club Hotel.

The ladies conducted a very successful tournament on March 22nd and at the Invitation Day on April 1st. Together with the Folk Festival catering we raised valuable funds of approximately $2,700. Well done ladies, it could not be done without your help and donations.

The green is now closed and undergoing Winter renovations. We anticipate the 11-12 season opening mid September.

For the past couple of years the Victorian State Bowls executives have been working towards an efficient mens’ and ladies’ unified body with 16 regions. As a result, the Royal Victorian Bowls Association (RVBA) and the Victorian Ladies’ Bowling Association (VLBA) have successfully amalgamated to form a new entity called Bowls Victoria (BV).

Following on from this, the ladies and men of our Associations, the Gippsland District Ladies Bowling Associations (GDLBA) and the Mid Gippsland Bowls Association (MGBA) respectively, have also amalgamated. From July 1st we will become West Gippsland Division in the region of Strzelecki.

We wait with interest to see the results of these changes.

Enjoy your winter break bowlers. Come back refreshed and energized for next season’s bowling. Our active bowling members have been diminishing over recent years, so we would like to see some new faces on the green so come along and give bowls a try.

Betty Fox,
