Jeerelang Boolarra Cricket Club, Panthers – March. 2011

Only 5 matches left to be played in the 2010 -2011 cricket season, and at this stage all senior sides of the Jeeralang Boolarra Cricket Club are looking at playing finals. This is a very exciting and unknown event, as it has been many years since both senior sides have managed to reach finals together.

Currently 2nd grade is sitting comfortably in third place on the ladder with a record of 8 wins, 6 draws and 2 losses, and 3rd grade is sitting second with a record of 8 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses. Huge congratulations to all players and members of the club on their great success and skills showed so far.

The positions on the ladder and success of the sides on field have been achieved through a lot of hard work off the field, particularly over the past few years since our switch back to the C.G.C.A.  This year, after several in the evolutionary stage, the committee is reaping the fruits of its labour with strong on field performances and significant increase in player numbers.  Hopefully the determination and teamwork demonstrated by players week after week do date will continue during the weeks to come and  with it, the biggest reward of all…holding that premiership cup aloft (for both grades!)

As people might have started to notice as they drive by our clubrooms, they have in fact started to be painted. This is one of many projects from our agenda this year. The colour scheme for the transformation of the rooms is of course the Panther colours of Blue, gold and white.

This project has come about thanks to one of our wonderful sponsors Tharren Kennedy of Inspiration 3D Paint who has provided us with all the colours and materials required to complete the task. It was agreed at a general meeting that it was time to give our rooms a lift and make them more appealing to the public. A big thank you must go to Matt Allan who has put the time and effort into actually painting the rooms and we thank him for the fabulous job he has done thus far.

On the 19th of December 2010 the club held its annual Christmas T/20 break up. Unfortunately the turn out wasn’t as good as last year, perhaps due to the somewhat inclement weather.  However everyone who showed up still had a fantastic day, catching up with mates, enjoying a cold drink and eating a massive roast lunch of pork, lamb and beef. A big thank you to all those who helped make the day a success and we look forward to planning next year’s breakup, to make it bigger and better and more community involved than this year.

As always the Jeeralang Boolarra Cricket Club is constantly searching for new players, supporters and volunteers for current and upcoming seasons. If you want to become a Panther, whether it’s as a player, supporter or volunteer we would love to see you and encourage you to either contact the club on 5169 6428, 0488 321 150 or attend a training Tuesday or Thursday night. All are welcome and we look forward to meeting you soon.  Current players and members are reminded to they have their 2010-2011 fees paid to Julia Allen now to ensure their eligibility for selection come finals time.

We must of course say a big thank you to all our wonderful sponsors for season 2010 -2011. The contribution and support provided by you has been huge in helping the club to continue to grow and be as success as it has so far this year. Its wonderful to feel supported and backed up throughout not only this season but past and hopefully future seasons to come.
