Boolarra Memorial Hall – Dec. 2010

The Hall has seen fairly steady use. At the moment we have Exercise Classes on Monday at 9.30am-10.30am, Boolarra Youth Theatre/Music Group meet each Sunday from 2.00pm-4.00pm., BCDG meetings, Cemetery Trust and of course the Hall Committee meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7.30pm. Hopefully we’ll see the Table Tennis Club start up once again.
The Hall kitchen is up and working but has yet to be “officially” opened. Watch out for the announcement of that date! Meanwhile, the Hall has already had a very good workout with a recent local wedding.
The Salvation Army have very generously donated $1,500 for a new fridge! We have also been fortunate to receive a Community Grant which will enable the purchase of a new vacuum cleaner and utensils for the kitchen. The Hall Committee has also gratefully received a donation of new Tupperware which may be used by various groups who use the Hall and of course, the Hall Committee. We have also received sets of beautiful teacups, saucers and plates, so now we are on the lookout for some really nice ceramic teapots. Hopefully we can organise “A Nice Cuppa Tea” one morning as a fund raiser.
The kitchen is of a standard that allows it to be a ‘Commercially Registered Kitchen’. The kitchen will be available for hire to Community Groups for use in preparing produce (sauces, jams, cakes etc.) for fundraising events, Cooking Classes and to caterers for food preparation. Once again Hall Committee members are very appreciative of the hard work Bill Armstrong does mowing the lawns and generally keeping the roses and bushes looking beautiful. We have had a few maintenance problems lately and must thank the Latrobe City Council for assisting financially so we could fix the problems.
When 2011 arrives hire charges for the Hall will have changed. All organisations will be contacted regarding new hiring charges.
Just a reminder as Christmas approaches – The Hall hires trestle tables for $5.00 each and chairs for $1 each. Crockery/cutlery may also be hired just in case you have all the rellies arriving for Christmas dinner!
Our Committee may be small but we are friendly, co-operative and hard at work improving the facilities at YOUR Hall. We meet every two months on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7.30pm. We would love to welcome new members so feel free to just come along to one of our meetings.
