Well, it has been a long time in the planning and many, many hours of hard work by volunteers, but at last the Enviro Toilet is completed! And, as a very valuable bonus, a storage shed has been constructed adjacent to the new toilet. The Cemetery Trust members celebrated with an official opening on Saturday, 20th November 2010.
Trust members saw this opening as an opportunity to say a personal “thank you!” to everybody who has helped at the Cemetery during the last 5 years, as well as to those who were part of the team who assembled the toilet off-site and then transported it to the Cemetery.
The President, Ian Blake, welcomed all who were able to attend and expressed the gratitude of the Trust to all the volunteers involved in the clean-up after the bushfire; those involved in the construction of the Enviro Toilet; the people and local Groups who have assisted the Trust financially; and those who prepared the submissions for grants from D.H.S, Rural Finance and Bush Fire Recovery (Latrobe City). It has been a real team effort with ongoing support from the Boolarra Community and we thank everyone concerned for their contributions.
We have been greatly encouraged by the feedback from visitors and community members – all positive! All we need now is another grant to purchase equipment to store in our beautiful new shed!
At the close of his remarks, Ian Blake called on Russell Northe to cut the ribbon to officially open the Toilet, followed by Councillor Darrell White to officially open the Storage Shed.
A light morning tea was then enjoyed by all present.

Glenys Morgan, Secretary.
